		<description>Hi Hillary - I&#039;m a builder who works primarily on the houseboats/floating homes in Sausalito.  Most of the original places like this one were built in the 1970&#039;s and have been gradually replaced by larger, newer homes as real estate prices have risen and the demographics of the community change.  Not too many of these types of &quot;hippie&quot; structures (as they were called) are left.  Many were actually built on left- over WW2 landing craft; the first boat we bought was one of these.  The original bill of sale I received with the transaction showed that it was first sold for $2,000 and a case of beer in 1973!  Funny...    Sausalito is a very different place now...  John</description>
