Monday Morning Treehouse No. 18

Post image for Monday Morning Treehouse No. 18

This treehouse is meant to be a playhouse and strapped to the trunk of a large tree. Water resistant straps, lashings, and wood panels are made to easily fit together, making the building process accessible to everyone. The name given to this design is translated to “build-it-yourself treehouse.” (Via Dezeen)

Rather than a child’s playtoy, (and really, how many big-trunk trees do you have access to?) I would love to see something like this adapted to a transient lifestyle. What would life be like in the Redwoods of Northern California with something like this?

I’m with you, having been a fan of Michael Garnier’s Treesort for some time. Why should kids be the only ones who have fun?

makes me think of the book ‘kildee house’ where the main character built a tree up against a redwood.

I wonder how thin/lightweight its walls are for transportability? Add a set of wheels, some lighter/thinner walls, etc= and you could very well have a bike-able structure- or at least the idea-basis for one. Love it…

This is clever, but wouldn’t do for a permanent structure because the tree would suffer over time. The lightweight, portable tree house is something we should keep working on improving.
