Wow. This family of three lives in a yurt high up on a mountain in a remote coastal Alaskan town. The McKittricks have a woodstove but the place is only accessible by boat or aircraft. They have broadband internet but no indoor plumbing. Hello outhouse in the snow, you are hardcore. This sweet, expedition-loving couple has trekked over 7,000 miles together. Article here.

Thanks for the response. I was also surprised that they hadn’t decided to put a nice composting toilet inside, or even a DIY one. That would be an obvious choice for me.
i saw this article, too. i admire them but don’t think i could do the outhouse in the alaskan winters!
i have a small cabin outside fairbanks ak. composting toilet is way to go. looking to downsize more. living here is best way to never go back to lower 48
