Somehow grain silos continue to capture my imagination. This one is just the top part, turned upside down, with a roof and door added. I don’t know if it still exists (Michael W. contributed this link of it on Google Maps Street View) but I read that this unique little tea kettle abode is in Galveston, Texas with no full time resident.

far be it from the pot to call the kettle hot, but no small wonder no one lives in this l cutie. Can you imagine the heat that little cooker would build up on a Texas afternoon without AC? Might as well put a pressure guage and a steam vent on the top and use it for canning!
It really is cute, tho.
This is wonderful! I love it.
What a great reminder to keep a creative eye by turning things upside down.
Thanks for the inspiration.

I love this. This would be a great idea to make in a colder climate, I’ll bet it stays nice and warm in there.
My husband has wanted to convert a grain silo to a house as long as I have know him – he will love this!
It’s still there!
here it is …

There it is! Looks lonely.
Those all mostly vacation/beach homes in that area. I grew up in Houston and knew a lot of people who had houses around there, that’s why I could find it.
It does look forlorn and unloved.
Just happened upon this wonderful site and enjoying the read when I saw this house. Yes indeed, it is still there. I live just north of Houston, TX and the home is on Galveston Island just west a few miles from the city. Every time I drive by I have to snap a few pix. Pleasantly surprised to run across it here.
