House Update Week 1

Post image for House Update Week 1

Shenanigans after the first week in possession of our house:

  • Garage is packed full of our stuff — including the trailer to serve as sleeping space for when fumes in the house are particularly pungent or potentially harmful.
  • House contains a few clothes, toiletries and a bed on the floor.
  • Cleaned bathroom from top to bottom using some old fashioned scouring powder.
  • First shipment from realgoods.com included: linen shower curtain – $58 (no liner) and basic low-flow shower head – $10. (anyone know of a locally-owned store in San Diego selling groovy green home goods?)
  • Peeled back two layers of vinyl floor tile, yes, adhered to the kitchen counter to discover the original 1941 white tile. More scouring to do to get that yucky mold and glue off. (photo above)
  • Rewarded ourselves with a lovely weekend backpacking trip. I don’t mind a little rain!
  • Next week: Getting my Got my Flickr page up (or should I use picasa?) for posting and organizing all these house photos, and more…

I definitely vote for Flickr. Much better than picasa.

I love the whole concept. I’ve done almost the same, went down from a 3200 sq.ft house to 1100 sq.ft (which is a monstrous change in lifestyle). Should have gotten started, sooner.

Congratulations on your Sunshing Blog Award from Terria at Daily Good. So glad she’s introduced me to your blog. Hope you’ll come visit me when you get a moment.

Thank you, though I didn’t know I received it until your comment arrived. I’ll check it out.
