…for $3000 and a little elbow grease.
Amanda and Tyson are currently living in a work trailer at the bottom of a hill while building a tiny house at the top of the hill. Their intention is to use all salvaged materials, including the house itself.

The house was a backyard structure that Tyson’s father noticed in a neighboring town. For sale, $3000, transport included. Sounds simple, right? The owner didn’t speak English very well and Tyson didn’t speak Spanish very well.

After a full day they had worked together to mount the tiny house onto a trailer and move it about 20 miles to Tyson’s parent’s property. From there it needed to be lifted 626 feet up a hill to it’s new location. Tyson and his father took 4 days using a tractor (pushing) and 10,000 lb. winch (pulling), using everything they could (trucks, trees, fences, posts) to inch this structure up to it’s resting place.

The most endearing part of Tyson’s story is that as a kid he had played on this land every day and imagined living in a little house on top of that hill. He simply would not have been able to afford to manifest this dream in a conventional way. Instead, sheer human willpower and ingenuity has made his dream possible.
Michael and I are happy to call these people our new friends, and we’re eager to learn about how their house project progresses!
