Pictured above is one of many community buildings at Twin Oaks Intentional Community. (I used to live there.) Mandy and Ryan took this photo, and I had to share their story. They just finished traveling to sustainable communities around the United States and are making a documentary about it. They call it bike-packing, because they did 6,000 miles traveling by bicycle (and their gear is solar powered). I can’t wait to see the film! Make a donation to their project.

We are big fans of Twin Oaks. We have purchased two of their hammock products and always buy their tofu from our local co-op. Neither their hammocks or tofu can be beat!! Thanks for spreading the Twin Oaks-love.
Thanks Jerry! I’ve always got Oaker love to go around.
aha! fairly new to blogging, i have stumbled across yours since i started my own last year – i have lived in many a tiny greeny house in my time, the one you pictured in todays post included. Funny, the synapse delay as the realisation sunk in. I used to live there too. Thanks for putting tiny house out there. I have had a link on my blog to you for awhile now. growmama.blogspot.com

um, you didnt used to live in the chicken room at Twin Oaks down in the courtyard did you? Before or after the ceiling mural went in? I did. After mural.
Yep, I moved in after you moved out. What mural??? Thanks for the link!
Hey,
I’ve followed your houses for years and plan to build one at some point. My wife and I met at TO and lived there for about a year and a half before moving to NC. I lived in Morningstar in fact. A good friend of mine is the current chicken room resident.

my husband and i like your blog and just realized you’re an ex-Oaker! small world. when were you at twin oaks? the chicken room is snazzy now.
Yep I was in the chicken room & TaChai outside (which was known as Paxus’ old room). I had two kitties, Mazzy and Adia, hence the outside rooms. They are both gone now but they loved the courtyard.
Maybe I’ll see you guys on my next visit back east!
thanks for posting my pic and for writing about our journey! i have noticed several people who have signed up on our mailing list have mentioned they found out about our movie from your tiny house blog. thanks!!
