Salvaged houses for low-income individuals

Post image for Salvaged houses for low-income individuals

Reminiscent of the Texas Tiny House guy, this self-taught, 64-year-old Texan has built 14 homes where 80 percent of the materials are salvaged. Beautiful photography by Michael Stravato in this NYT article, from which the above photos come. Don’t miss this YouTube video. Unfortunately, half of the homes have been lost to foreclosure, but Mr. Phillips is still out to prove that an attractive, affordable home is not an oxymoron. How about getting these guys together to start making tiny house villages.

Does anyone have a small travel trailer they no longer have use for and would be willing to donate to a women who wants to make it on my own – I have little money and no land – so I would have to use an RV park – there are so many people who have these things just sitting in their yards and I would be forever grateful if you could pay it forward by donating one to me. I believe in if you are not using it, pass it on. I have passed on a lot of my things and continue to do so – it my books that I can’t bear to part with..I am working on this too.
I love the idea of a small (tiny) home but will certainly need to rely on this blog to figure it all out in making a go of it. At 57 is this possible? I certainly hope the new year brings me the first step in my downsizing. A donated travel trailer. Thank you for getting the word out.
Many blessings,
