Inspiring woman: Dee Williams

January 12, 2009

She’s the real deal, or as my friend Karen would say, she’s a right on woman. I am so proud of Dee and proud to call her a friend.

In September she was featured in the NY Times, in October she was on the national nightly news, and now Ms. Dee Williams has gotten herself on the cover of a magazine.

Yes! Magazine is a nonprofit publication that writes about positive social, political and environmental change. Their article Living Large in a Tiny House talks about Dee’s decision to sell her house and build a tiny one instead (84 sq. ft.).

Oh, she is living my dream life, and I SO wish I had a friend with a backyard & that sense of giving. I swear I know more about Dee than my own extended family!

I’ve not read this yet (working, darn it) but got this on my lunch break: new Alameda (California) Magazine … “Home Sweet 100 square foot Home: Alameda Embraces the Small House Movement”

http://www.alamedamagazine.com/media/Alameda-Magazine/January-February-2009/

Spread the word! I just might be growing old on an island in Northern California! (Who’da thunk?) *fingers crossed

Wow! First off, I wanted to say that when I read through that issue of Yes! magazine a few weeks ago, I was so impressed that I subscribed to the magazine. Second, that photo of Dee is actually in the new photography book “America at Home” which is fantastic.

To Lynne, thank you so much for the alameda link, I had no idea! And what a great article and information source for those of us in California.

Yes, thanks for the info Lynne and Amanda. I’ll have to check out that new photography book, sounds interesting.

Lynne thank you for making me feel better about my Dee Williams collection.
I’ve begun making the purge of possessions enroute to my little house…
My kids have a running joke that I’m moving into a teepee…where will they sleep if they come visit…..
