Floating Trailer in Amsterdam

Post image for Floating Trailer in Amsterdam

What an ideal camping spot! The floating campground island appeared this summer at Almere Beach, Amsterdam. Also popping up are projects such as a floating rooftop, floating market, and a floating hotel made of plastic bags.

I don’t know who these guerilla floaters are (possibly from the University of Amsterdam’s Social Engineering class) but I want to befriend them. (via Inhabitat)

If you like floating living arrangements, you might also like floating tents! I came across this article originally through the Treehugger blog, but can’t find it now. It posted last summer. But here is a link that includes a photo:

Hi,
Actually all these floating projects are done by other people and initiators (most of them related somehow though).
The camping is done by a floating gardens club in Amsterdam. These are the people that know most about floating constructions. With 30 years of experience.

The market is an initiative by the social engineering class, with collaboration of the group mentioned above.

The plastic bags hotel, doesn’t float, and is done by DUS

The rooftop is an art project in Rotterdam, I don’t know the artist here.

Cheers
