The animals we see

October 30, 2008

One of the less obvious benefits to living smaller is one’s exposure to the natural world. We are currently parked in a campsite where wild turkeys and deer roam outside at dawn and dusk, and below you’ll see a picture of the antelope we encountered the other day.

How wonderful that there are still places where we can co-exist! I feel less of a knee-jerk urge to snap a picture and more of a desire to understand the animal and the environment we share.

These are a few of the notable wild animals we’ve seen up close and personal in the past two weeks:

  • Bat
  • Black Widow Spider
  • Canada Goose
  • Coyote
  • Deer
  • Duck
  • Jackrabbit
  • Magpie
  • Pronghorn Antelope
  • Rabbit
  • Turtle
  • Water Ousel
  • Wild Burro
  • Wild Turkey
